20 years later from 9/11, but two things come to mind when I think that phrase.

First, the Hindi translation i.e. “bees saal baad”.

I remember that was a horror movie back in the day in 1998 when I was growing up, and apparently too scary for me at the time?

At least, so I was told . . .

And I was told to listen to re-runs of another favorite movie of mine that year “Tezaab” (a true blue masala Hindi movie “a violent love story”) … which I did (ie when I wanted to watch Bees Saal Baad).

Those were the days we had cassettes which we popped into radio players to listen to – remember those? Hehe.

My first semster in school, my roommate gave me one of those too – hehe.

John – he was a great guy!

I still remember my parents calling … I think it was a true Mississippi “hurricane”, but not near as bad as some of the ones that had hit, and my dad (i believe) was asking John (who answered the phone) “if the rain was really that bad”.

He laughed.

“oh, just a bit of wind and rain!”

Hehe.

To him it was, to me … well, I dont know, didnt seem particularly scary either, but the media was hyping it I believe.

Then, of course, that morning of 9/11 …

THAT day we’ll never forget, those that are old enough to remember it.

I had an early morning Dr Bisland class which I stumbled my way onto . Made it to class at my usual time of 8:05, I think or perhaps that was the day I was actually early, smoked a couple of “fags” before class (I remember another professor Dr Khanna there handing me  his pack of smokes when I was out. GREAT GUY! Reminds me of “would you give another guy your LAST BEER”?) …

Internet concepts was the class, all went well, next class was at 10 I think, or no, 11, so I walked back home (no more dorm, it was a 10-15 minute walk to my apartment – girlfriend had a car, but she was sleeping or something) .. .

Opened the door to met by loud shrieks.

Christ what did I do NOW, I remember thinking.

For a change it wasn’t bad boy Rahul at fault.

I still remember her yelling at the top of her lungs “Baby, see what they’re doing!

And of course, the graphic visuals on TV showing one of the towers collapsing, while breaking news was talking about the other hits.

The 11 AM was canceled by the professor Dr Miller. Some said he was lazy to do that.

I dont know but that was a shocking day.

Jay, an Indian friend of mine called me up. (remember him? “I train, but not like YOU, MACHO MAN!”)

“What are these nuts doing in NY!” he went (he was referring to the idiots that flew the plane into the towers)

I had no answer.

But being from India, he’d seen more than his fair share of terrorism which of course at the time in the USA (hell you could walk right up to departing flights and say bye to your loved ones, so safe was the nation then) was a completely “alien” concept and something that happened “in those countries” but not “here”.

And given neither one of the World Wars was fought directly on U.S. soil, well …

Anyway, that day changed everything didnt it?

And now, 20 years forward, if you were to think and answer this question – are we any better off, or is history repeating itself?

I dont know, with all the biowarfare, scare plague campaigns, with Hiden Biden attacking his own country, with people in the US now saying the Constitution is racist (wtf?????) and the general lunacy everywhere, I’d say history is repeating itself in a different manner.

Mankind in general never learned its lesson, and thats been shown throughout the ages.

Anyway, that bit of philosophy aside, the Trumpinator, of course will be commenting on the match tonight!

And I’d love to hear your thoughts on it, hehe, if you’ve actually heard him speak (I wont be able to – prior committments).

Good ole Trump, hehe. Brings a sense of normalcy to things, always positive!

And horror movies and terror attacks aside (although with what is going on now in Afghanistan, its hard to put those two terms “aside”) …

COVID aside …

One other thing that brings NORMALCY back to the table – my fitness routines.

Truly routines that have been passed down through the ages, and people actually DID learn from these routines – until a point, when after 1960 or so the world in general started turning to mush – flab, and everything SOFT.

And it’s just getting worse in general now.

Although I think many will be forced out of their self induced stupors very soon, it may or may get them to change their mindset …

But really, these routines have stood the test of TIME my friend.

And they will help you achieve whichever fitness goal you have in mind!
